As a foreigner do I need an invitation to visit the library or is there public access?
The Reading Rooms in The Royal Library are open to students, researchers and the general public. A letter of invitation is not necessary.
You can register as a Reading Room user ahead of time to have materials delivered to the Research Reading Room for perusal (please allow two days for delivery):
Register as user > Other type of user > Private user > No > fill out the form.
Contact in July/August
Tel. 33 47 47 47 (9am-4pm)
We process inquiries workdays 9 am - 4 pm, and usually you can expect an answer the following workday 3 pm at the latest. If your request requires further research, it may take up to three workdays before you receive a reply. Your inquiry is answered by information and subject specialists.
